| A Guide toAliases and Shortcuts
Create an alias
An alias is a code you can enter into the game, allowing you to say handy things. We’ll use a command to shorten the /invite command as an example. In the chat bar, type in exactly the following, spaces included:
/alias ;i /invite
This creates a simple alias, so the next time you type ";i" (no quotes) in the chat bar followed by a name, it will automatically fill in the line, "/invite" for you. As an example, let’s invite Squitro into a fellowship. Type the following:
;i Squirto
The command given will be this:
/invite Squirto ________________________________________
Create a shortcut
A shortcut is a command that may be saved into a quickslot location. These are handy to use, if there’s a command you like to use a lot. Let’s use the /follow command as an example. Assuming you have Quickslot Bar #5, Space #2 available (check the Quickslot section in your options panel) type the following into the chat line, spaces included:
/shortcut 62 /follow
Notice the “62” number. This is specific the quickslot bar noted above. Each of them have a specific number assigned to them, which are the following:
Normal_____1 - 12 Ctrl________13 - 24 Alt ________25 - 36 Shift_______37 – 48 Bar #4_____ 49 – 60 Bar #5_____ 61 – 72
Now each time you hit the second button for Quickslot Bar #5, Space #2, the /follow command will be put to use relative to your target.
Personally, I don’t use Quickslot Bar #5 for anything else. This makes it handy to re-assign a key binding for it as well. I used SHFT-F for this binding. Now each time I hit SHFT-F, I automatically follow my target. ________________________________________
Your Location (;loc)
We all get tired of seeing people give out their location constantly while looking for something, whether it's through the kin chat, fellowship, or someone just close to you saying, "35.3W, 65.3S" over and over. Here’s a great idea that one of our kin-mates came up with to simply tell it to yourself.
I’ll use myself as an example. This is what I entered to create my own shortcut:
/shortcut 61 /tell Magnarr ;loc
then go to quickslot number 61 (on Quickslot Bar 5) and create a key binding for it. I used SHFT-L, and replaced my deed log key binding.
So now, when I’m in the field and hit SHFT-L, a tell comes up, from Magnarr to Magnarr telling me Magnarr says, “35.3W, 65.3S”. No one else heard a thing.
